Major inequalities in health and life expectancy persist worldwide, according to an independent World Health Organization commission which on Thursday called for all countries to offer universal health care.

In two recent stories, one about major state legislative issues and one about health care reform in Pennsylvania, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the state Senate passed a Republican plan to expand free health clinics for the poor and provide insurance coverage for people who cannot get it because of pre-existing health conditions.
